Reading
First is the centerpiece of the Bush administration’s
landmark education bill, No Child Left Behind. It provides
more than $1 billion every year to help schools ensure
that every child is a skillful, successful reader by
the 3rd grade. It requires that schools adopt programs
based on scientific research that have been proven to
be effective—a revolution in public policy.
Success
for All has had exactly the same objective since its
beginning in 1987: Every child reading by the 3rd grade.
More than 50 scientific research studies have firmly
established that Success for All is extremely effective
in teaching students to read no matter what their challenges—poverty,
limited-English proficiency, or other circumstances.
Success for All is exactly what Reading First calls
for—putting scientific research into classroom
practice.

Success for All Foundation meets and exceeds
all of the requirements for Reading First. Success for All Foundation provides a
comprehensive array of reading materials and supplements,
and it is much more than a set of materials. It provides
extensive and
ongoing professional development in a number of
critical areas, including the essential components of
reading (phonemic
awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension)
but also in classroom management, assessment, and instructional
strategies. Most of this professional development is
done at the school site and involves extensive coaching
and observation in individual teachers’ classes.
What makes Success for All Foundation unique
is its use of proven
instructional strategies to make reading come alive
for every child. It uses cooperative learning, partner
reading, a rapid pace of instruction, frequent standards-based
assessments, and effective classroom management strategies
to engage every child.
Success for All is happy to provide
